Access to Supermarkets

The Carers Trust together with 23 other charities, have written to Government and supermarkets about the challenges many carers, and the people they care for, are facing accessing food during the COVID-19 crisis.

They have called for supermarkets to ensure unpaid carers, everyone with a disability, and those at increased risk of COVID-19 to get priority access to supermarkets and home food deliveries, to make sure no one misses out on the support they need.

Requesting that the government provide clear information about the help available for people struggling to access food and for supermarkets to make their services more accessible for older people, disabled people and their unpaid carers

For those of you who are registered with CASS, your yellow carers card should be enough evidence to gain priority access to supermarkets to say your are registered as family carer with CASS.

If supermarkets are not accepting these, please contact the CASS Advice Line and we can look at providing a letter of confirmation or a replacement card for those who have misplaced theirs.

If you are not registered please contact the CASS Advice Line on 01785 606675 to regser and a carers pack will be sent to you.
